§ 34-86. Speed zones established.

  • (a)

    It is unlawful to operate a motor vehicle in the town in excess of 15 miles per hour in all alleys and 30 miles per hour in all other locations within the town except that Sixth Street between Locke Street and Jeter Street and the westbound lane of Jeter Street between Sixth Street and Highway 1360 are designated as school zones between the hours of 7:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m. each day school is in session, with a speed limit not to exceed 20 miles per hour.

    (b)

    For the purposes of this section, the term "alley" means and includes the entire width between the boundary lines of every way publicly maintained when any part thereof is open to the use of the public for purposes of vehicular travel, having no legal or official name and a width of 20 feet or less.
