§ 2-46. Time, place and notice.

  • (a)

    Regular meetings. The town council shall hold regular meetings on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. When the day for any regular meeting falls on a legal holiday, the regularly scheduled meeting for such day shall be cancelled unless otherwise specified by the town council. At other times that the mayor deems appropriate, the mayor may cancel one or more regular meetings.

    (b)

    Special meetings. The mayor may call a special meeting on the mayor's own motion or on the application of three trustees. Each member of the town council, the town secretary, and the town administrator must be notified of the special meeting.

    (c)

    Place of meeting. The town council shall conduct all meetings in the board meeting room designated from time to time by the town council in accordance with state law. If by reason of fire, flood or other emergency, it is unsafe to meet in the designated board meeting room, for the duration of the emergency the board may hold its meetings at such other place as the mayor, or, in the mayor's absence, the mayor pro tem, shall designate.

    (d)

    Cancellation; recess. Meetings may be cancelled or recessed to the next business day with or without notice by the mayor, a majority of the board, or a majority of the members of the board in attendance at the meeting.

    (e)

    Workshops. The mayor and town council may meet for an informational workshop as necessary. No action shall be taken or final decision shall be made at the workshop.
